Bird Nesting Program

Migrating Birds are busy building their summer homes. Join us to learn from two New England birders who will teach you how to observe and identify this wonderful right of spring without disturbing nesting birds.
Meet at the Horatio Colony Nature Preserve parking area off Daniels Hill Road in Keene (first pull off in left). Remember to bring sturdy walking shoes, water/snack, bug spray, hat and binoculars.

Scats & Tracks

Come out to the Horatio Colony Nature Preserve to find out what is leaving tracks and scat. We’ll identify evidence of animal visits and discover what critter left them behind. Best for parents and the 2nd to 5th grade children. Meet at the Horatio Colony Nature Preserve parking area off Daniels Hill Road in Keene (first pull off in left). Remember to bring sturdy walking shoes, water/snack, bug spray, long sleeve shirt and pants and hat.

The Lincoln Era: Items from the Time of Lincoln

In collaboration with exhibits pertaining to Abraham Lincoln at Keene Public Library and the Historical Society of Cheshire County, the Horatio Colony House Museum will exhibit engravings and objects made in the time of Lincoln, which will help paint a picture of the time period.  The exhibit will also include letters written to Emeline Joslin (Horatio Colony’s grandmother) from Keene soldier Ira Berry during his service in the Civil War.
