Dining Room

Originally the kitchen of the portion of the house built in 1806, this room became the dining room during the renovation of 1899. The renovation included the installation of the patterned tin ceilings and the re-working of the kitchen hearth into a smaller fireplace.

In keeping with the fashion of the late 1800's, the dining room is replete with hand cut lead crystal and a set of English china so complete that it numbers 277 pieces. The room was the scene for formal meals, especially the Colony family Thanksgiving dinner.
